The Pumphouse Players will host Independent Film Night Jan. 30 at the Legion Theatre.
This is the second year the event has been held, said Mike Harris, who along with Barry King coordinated the night of films.
The featured films are short, independent films from film-makers hailing from the North Georgia area.
Independent Film Night begins at 7:30 p.m. and the cost to view the seven films is $5.
Harris said he hopes interest in Independent Film Night will bring about success.
“We hope that there is enough interest to continue to offer this type of show annually,” said Harris.
Viewers are cautioned that some material is not intended for viewers under the age of 13.
“While there is no rating system for these types of films, most should be considered PG13 at the least,” Harris said.
The idea for an independent film night, said Harris, came from many of the actors and directors within the Pumphouse Players theater who are actively involved in this type of filmmaking.
Harris said he hopes the film night will bring a new dimension to local entertainment.
”We hope that this gives an outlet for anyone who has a desire and a flair for telling a story on film,” said Harris. “Of course this will mean that film fans will hopefully find that the independent film night is long overdue in the area.”
